Faith and Hope Like a Child

I watched her reaching on her tippy toes trying to reach the branches with an empty nest in her hand. ⁣

It had fallen out of the tree the day before when Jackson was limbing up some trees. Two small eggs smashed against our deck and with sadness, we said a little prayer for the mommy bird. ⁣

I asked Amelia why she wanted the nest in the tree. “So the mommy bird can come back.” I explained to her that the mommy bird may not come back because her baby birds are gone. She turned to me and said, “but she can come back and make some more eggs.” 😢 ⁣

Oh to have faith and hope like a child. ⁣

6 years ago, I suffered through my first miscarriage. It was devastating. I had feared I may not ever be a mommy someday. Many women have suffered and recovering from the journey is not as easy as saying “she can make more eggs again” but I do know when your heart is shattered and broken, it’s a beautiful thing to picture a God who is scooping up the nest and putting it back up in the tree. ⁣

Do you need that kind of faith today?
