How to Nurture Hiking in Children

How to Nurture Hiking in Children:

🌱Pick a doable hike for your kids. 5 miles roundtrip is pushing our three (almost 7, 5, and 2 y/o who is mostly carried). ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
β˜€οΈChoose a gorgeous day with mild weather and dress in layers. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Plan for plenty of time for pauses and stops.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
🌷Stop to explore the wildflowers! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
🐿 Pause to point out landmarks, mts, animals, unique parts of the trail. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
πŸ’§Bring a yummy picnic lunch, delicious snacks and plenty of water! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Prep for motivation:⁣⁣
🍬Tic Taks or small candy to dole out every 0.5 miles when they get tired. ⁣⁣
πŸ” Play eye spy as you walk, sing songs, act silly, ask what they hear or see, tell a story, have an adult in front drop a gem every once in a while for the kids to find along the trail. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
🌱 Use lots of positive affirmations and self-talk. β€œYou girls are doing so well! Let’s⁣⁣
Keep going!” β€œLook how far we’ve walked already! You guys are doing amazing!!” ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
⁣⁣
𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐅𝐔𝐍 𝐚𝐧𝐝 π₯𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐑𝐞𝐦 π₯𝐞𝐚𝐝! β˜€οΈβ£β£
